New Moon party cake. Ruffled tulip is gumpaste. Cake is red velvet with chocolate mousse filling with buttercream and fondant. Ribbons and buttons are non-edible.
Bride wanted me to replicate a cake she had a picture of. Bottom is chocolate with chocolate mousse and top 2 are lemon with lemon curd. All 3 tiers are 3-layer, 6-inch cakes.
A birthday cake for my twin nieces. They picked a bug theme so I made some dragonflies and a butterfly for the top (although it's hard to see). I wrote their names out of the bug "trails" and dusted the holes with pink luster dust. I also dusted the flowers, dragonflies and butterfly.
I made these for a baby shower dinner for two friends - one is having a boy and the other a girl - so I sprinkled on some blue and pink dusting sugar and bought some plastic binkies at the dollar store. The cupcakes are cherry chip.
Here's the most recent cake I did. The cake is French Vanilla with Bavarian Cream filling, covered in buttercream and fondant (ribbon is fabric and flowers are fresh).
This cake was for my niece who's only request was that I make it purple with silver. I surprised her with some zebra print too because she loves zebra and black & white. Cakes were funfetti with raspberry and chocolate with bavarian cream.
It all started with my oldest son's 1st birthday cake - a baseball. After a couple more (lame) attempts at some birthday cakes I realized I didn't know enough to make the cakes I wanted to be able to make. Plus, I thought it would be fun to carry on my mom's skills for my kids so they would have fun cakes like we had growing up. So, a lot of practice and two Wilton classes later, here I am making wedding cakes, birthday cakes and cakes for other special occasions.
